This is the first song I remember really liking as a young child. Nowadays, I would argue that Michael McDonald is one of the finest if not the finest vocalist to ever perform rock and roll music. Add to that Jeff “Skunk” Baxter tearing the six strings up (he is now an advisor for the U.S. Dept. of Defense. Go figure?) and you’ve got the makings for some damn fine music. Lyrically, this song has all the meaning it had in 1976. The chasm between the wealthy and the barely getting by continues to grow wider and wider.
