Where the Streets Have No Name by U2

U2. Kinda speaks for itself huh? I have for many years and continue to argue that they are the greatest band in the history of rock and roll. Are they my “favorite” band? No, they aren’t. However, these same four guys from Ireland have never wavered from their purpose at any time in their 30+ years. Noone has ever succeeded in ever capturing their vibe or their sound. The Beatles were great but they only lasted about six years. The Stones are great but they have added/subtracted many members over the years. At times pretentious and perhaps taking themselves too seriously, U2 have nonetheless stayed true to form and relevant without being parodies of themselves and that alone makes them legendary. This song from 1986’s Joshua Tree (aside from being one of the best concert openers ever!) displays perfectly the “U2” sound. I loved it when I was a freshman in high school and I still love it now. One of my all-time faves!
