Wonderwall by Oasis.

This is one of those songs that everyone seems to know, no matter what music they listen to. It has been covered by many artists like Radiohead, Ryan Adams, and Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol.

It was written by Noel Gallagher and released on November 30, 1995 off their album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? Common belief is that the song was written about Noel’s girlfriend at the time but it’s actually about an imaginary friend that will save you from yourself. Noel went along with the rumor for several years until he finally stated, “The meaning of that song was taken away from me by the media who jumped on it. How do you tell your missus it’s not about her once she’s read it is?”

He eventually left Oasis in 2009 and the remaining members formed a new band called, Beady Eye. This video is from an acoustic performance featuring only Noel.
