Zola Jesus’ music has definitely made it on my list of favorites. On one hand, it’s very different than what I usually listen to but on another, it’s not. Most people associate me with alternative rock bands like Three Days Grace and The Smashing Pumpkins. Lately though, I’ve been listening to a lot of electronic music by indie artists due mostly to SPIN magazine, who have free tracks every month.
Her music talks about falling in love, how it’s hard to find, wanting to be with someone but can’t, being far away from someone, having no control over a situation, questioning the future…the list goes on. The music also has a distinct darkness to it that isn’t really depressing, but deep & full of emotion.
Seekir is from Zola’s upcoming album, Conatus, which will be released October 4th in the United States and September 26th in the U.K.
