Walk of Life by Dire Straits.

Dire Straits has pretty much been in my life since I was a kid. My dad used to have a record player/radio sound system in the basement and I’d hear their songs quite frequently. It was even connected to two more speakers in the upstairs living room.

Walk of Life was released off the band’s fifth studio album, Brothers in Arms, in May of 1985. It became a single later that year and went to #7 on the U.S. charts. It was their biggest commercial hit in the UK peaking at #2. The band’s producer had voted against the song’s inclusion on the album but luckily, everyone voted against him.

This song reminds me of  a friend of my mom’s. One day we all went driving in her Mercedes convertible with the top down and she blasted this song. It sounded pretty cool.

The video is from London’s Wembley Arena in July of 1985.
