Times Like These by Foo Fighters.

I really loved this song when it first came out. Looking back, I guess it reminds me of a certain time of my life. But that’s also the reason I didn’t listen to it for many years. However, today I woke up with it playing in my head and I’m not really sure why. I guess I’ve finally reached a point where it doesn’t hurt to hear it anymore.

Times Like These was released as a single in January of 2003 from the band’s fourth album, One By One. The lyrics describe how the frontman, Dave Grohl, felt during the band’s three-month hiatus after an unsatisfying first recording session of the album. He also felt uncertainty about the future of the band.

The single went to #5 on Billboard’s Hot Modern Rock Tracks and Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks. However, it only made #65 on the Hot 100. An acoustic version was later released and also made its way on the contemporary charts.

The video above is a live acoustic performance from Craig Kilborn.

It’s times like these you learn to live again. It’s times like these you give and give again. It’s times like these you learn to love again. It’s times like these time and time again…
