Drive by Incubus.

I remember the first time I heard this song—it was on a morning countdown with Casey Kasem. I loved it. I had never heard of Incubus before this song, and shortly after, I bought the album. I guess I think of middle school when I hear it, but I haven’t listened to it in years until today.

Drive was released as a single in November of 2000 from the band’s third album, Make Yourself. It became their biggest hit and breakthrough single, reaching #1 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs, #8 on Mainstream Rock, and #9 on the Hot 100.

Lead singer Brandon Boyd describes the song as “…basically about fear, about being driven all your life by it and making decisions from fear. It’s about imagining what life would be like if you didn’t live it that way.”
